Create. Compose. Communicate.

Writing Consultants

I’m a graduate student in political science. I love thunderstorms and baking. I make high fashion dresses. I toured Italy and Greece in 2012.

I am a junior studying secondary English education. By the time I graduate, I hope to specialize in working with ESL students. After graduating, I plan to teach language arts to middle school students, but I’m not opposed to teaching high school at some point.

A PhD student in American studies, I’m an eclectic mix both ethnically and academically. I am excited about every part of the writing process.

I’m an undergraduate consultant currently working as a writing fellow. My major is English, with a minor in strategic communication.

Administrative Intern

I am a graduate student pursuing my PHD in Rhetoric and Composition. Before coming to KU, I worked in the writing center at Kansas State.

I’m a second-year creative writing major hailing from the West Coast. I like writing and helping other people do that too.

I’m a graduate student in the Department of English working on my master’s in Rhetoric and Composition, and this is my third year working in a writing center.

I’m a PhD student in theatre. I have an affection for theatre, hope, coffee, and… using ellipses.

I’m a junior majoring in English and Italian on the pre-law track. I love books and languages of all kinds, and I’m always excited to interact with other people.

I am a first-year graduate writing consultant and a third-year Ph.D. student in Communication Studies, studying the intersections of political communication, mass media, and social media. In my pre-grad school life, I was a magazine editor and a museum exhibits writer. In my spare time (ha!) I enjoy running, cooking, playing with my one-year-old daughter, and reading novels and historical non-fiction.

Workshop Coordinator

I'm a graduate student studying Social Work. I enjoy working at the Writing Center because it gives me a chance to help students develop confidence in their writing. Plus, I get to meet and interact with new people from the KU community!

Originally from South Dakota, I am a second year PHD student studying English literature. I love helping students with writing and transitioning into college life. Besides tutoring, I also teach English 101 and 102 Freshman Composition.

I’m double-majoring in classical antiquities and history, because the past is cool, yo! I’m also a McNair Scholar who wrote a really long paper about men, women, and what the work of Plutarch can tell us about being either one of those things within his times.  But what I really want people to know is that I have the coolest job in the world: I get to demystify some of the intricacies of writing for peers, and help students find their “writing legs.”  And that – to me, at least – is even cooler than the past.

I’m a graduate student studying TESOL, and I love living in the moment and finding joy in all things. I also enjoy baseball (go Oakland A’s!), farmer’s markets, and trying to speak new languages.

I'm an undergraduate student majoring in Political Science and Creative Writing, and this is my second year at the KU Writing Center. My love for consulting is rooted in the diversity of the subjects and backgrounds of each of the student writers whom we serve; I learn something new and exciting within every consultation.

I’m a second-year master’s student in English Literature, specializing in 20th century American Literature, particularly Southern Literature. I received my BA in English and French at William Jewell College.

I am a second year grad student in Counseling Psychology, hoping to counsel at a community mental health center or non-profit center. I love traveling, baking, watching sports, sea turtles, reading, Star Wars, my dog Bear, and my family. I enjoy working at the WC because I get to meet students and work with them together to learn and improve.

I’m a part-time florist from Olathe and have studied Japanese for four years. I enjoy flowers and strawberry ice-cream and am an undergrad student studying Japanese and English.
