Hello, my name is Allyna, and I am a senior from Des Moines, Iowa. I am majoring in Business Management and English (Rhetoric). I specialize in personal statements, cover letters, resumes, and business/professional writing; but I am not exclusive to just that. I can also help with brainstorming to start off your writing projects or to chat about ideas you may have regarding them! In my free time, I frequent boba shops in town, read, and enjoy crocheting. Hi! My name is Amara and I am a 5th year studying History and Secondary Education. I have lots of experience with history papers, research projects, personal statements, and creative works (I have a Creative Writing minor!). I try to make every appointment as collaborative and welcoming as possible. I enjoy appointments focused on brainstorming, outlining, organization, and Chicago citations! When I’m not working or in class I’m usually playing board games with my friends, going to local shows, or hanging out with my cats.

Hello! My name is Coria, and I am a junior studying Theatre Performance and Journalism (DMC concentration) from West Des Moines, Iowa. I love working on all sorts of topics, from personal statements to creative writing, but am best with integrating research into writing! I am very knowledgeable in APA, MLA and AP styles. I like to be conversational during consultations, while also being very direct and encouraging. When not at the Writing Center, I like to read, sing and hang out with my friends. Hi Jayhawks! My name is Elora, and I am a junior studying Political Science and I’m on the Pre-Law track. I have experience writing research papers, argumentative essays, personal statements, and I’m a hobbyist in creative writing! I feel comfortable working with people in any stage of their writing, but I feel I’m especially skilled in brainstorming and organizing thoughts. I’m a very conversational person, and loving sharing ideas in the writing process!

Hey there! My name is Heidi and I am from Chicago around Wrigleyville (go cubs). I am a senior double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy on the pre-law track. I am currently applying to law school, so I am always thrilled to help with personal statements or other applicational essays. I also really enjoy creative writing so I can help you bring out your voice and creativity. I also enjoy assisting with literary analysis pieces while keeping the paper in adherence with rubric requirements. Hi! My name is J Buch, and I’m a third-year student double majoring in Microbiology and Music Composition. My name is Kayla, and I am an English major in my senior year. My concentration is in creative writing, so I have experience with writing workshops and genres such as fiction and creative nonfiction, but I’m also experienced with academic essays (specifically in MLA). Besides English, I can understand German up to an intermediate level. Outside of school and writing, I love reading, playing music, and running.

Hi! My name is Madison and I am a junior from Wyoming studying English. I have the most experience with literary analysis, personal statements, research, creative writing, and brainstorming. Hi there! My name is Suzette, and I am a senior studying Classical Antiquity and English from Shawnee, Kansas. Hello everyone! My name is Aadi, and I’m a PhD student in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) program at the School of Education. I have a master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and am well versed in the field of English Teaching. I have taught English in Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam and Arkansas as an ESL specialized instructor and got the opportunity to teach Freshman Composition I workshop/lectures at Arkansas Tech University as well as A-Level high school English. I specialize in writing, and I’m excited to be your Graduate Writing Consultant and help you with any type of essays, personal statements, research articles, dissertation chapters, and anything related to structured writing. Fun fact about me, I have lived in 8+ countries and have native proficiency in English and a plethora of experiences to share with you all. Hi! I’m a PhD candidate in linguistics. My research focus is theoretical description, mostly on the syntax and phonology of lesser-documented languages (e.g., Tibeto-Burman). I enjoy reading across a wide range of disciplines and types of writing—research, technical, application materials, etcetera—so bring me anything! I also enjoy learning languages other than English; I speak conversational Standard Mandarin Chinese, and I’ve taken a few other languages, including Uyghur and Tibetan here at KU. In my free time, I read fiction and play games.

Hello! My name is Mira, and I am a second-year graduate student studying East Asian art history at the KU Kress Foundation Department of Art History. I also received my bachelor’s in East Asian Languages and Cultures here at KU, so I have basic proficiency in Korean after studying for 5 years. In terms of writing, my strong suit is research papers and analysis papers. I can help with research for those needing Korean sources as well as helping with McCune-Reischauer romanization. A fun fact about me is I am a trained singer who performed at KU for over 2 years!

Hi! I’m Rocio and I am a second-year PhD student in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies department. My academic interests include language policy and multilingual education, but I also enjoy reading works in social sciences and humanities. I like to learn about different fields through students’ writing projects. Spanish is my second language (professional working proficiency) and American Sign Language (intermediate proficiency) is my third! Hi everyone! I am a third-year PhD student studying Counseling Psychology. I have a background in studio arts and psychology, with interests in Chinese culture, philosophy, and art history. Within writing, I specialize in graduate school application materials (e.g., CVs, personal/professional statements), research paper development/brainstorming, and answering writing prompts. I have language competency in Mandarin and Cantonese. English is my third language, so I can help with navigating writing in a new language.
