Allyna

Hello, my name is Allyna, and I am a 4th year here at KU from Des Moines, Iowa. I am majoring in Business Management and English. I specialize in personal statements, cover letters, resumes, business writing, and elementary Mandarin-Chinese writing; but I am not exclusive to just that. I can also help with brainstorming to start off your writing projects or to chat about ideas you may have regarding them! In my free time, I frequent boba shops in town and enjoy crocheting. I have a few published works in the state of Iowa and one day plan to write my own historical fiction on my father’s experience surviving the Khmer Rouge. Hi! My name is Amara and I am a 4th year studying History and Secondary Education. I have a ton of experience with history papers, English papers, research projects, and creative works (I have a Creative Writing minor!). If you need help with brainstorming, outlining, organization, or citations, make an appointment with me. When I’m not working or in class I’m usually playing board games with my friends, going to local shows, or hanging out with my cats.

Hello! My name is Eleni Chapas, and I am currently a senior double majoring in English and Illustration & Animation. Whenever I am not doing a class assignment, I like to spend my free time crocheting, playing tennis, or hanging out with friends. I specialize in literary analysis papers, research papers, and creative writing, but I have experience in other forms of writing as well, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Hey there! My name is Heidi and I am from Chicago around Wrigleyville (go cubs). I am a junior majoring in Political Science and Philosophy on the pre-law track. I am currently working towards publishing a research paper, so I enjoy working on those, but I also love personal statements. I also really enjoy creative writing so I can help you bring out your voice and creativity. I can assist with literary analysis pieces and keeping the paper in adherence with rubric requirements. Hey Y’all! My name is Isaac. I am a senior at KU majoring in both English and Communication Studies with a minor in Latinx/Chicanx Studies. My specialization within both of my degrees are in argumentation and rhetorical studies. In my free time, I like to practice boxing, cook, go for walks, play board games, read, watch sports, and weightlift. Hello! My name is Max Bryan and I’m a third-year student studying English and French. I also have a minor in music, where I play piano and bassoon. I speak French at a conversational level, so if you need support in any French course, or if you desire a French speaking consultant, I can be of support! Hey! My name is Syd, and I am a senior studying Theatre Performance and English, specializing in Creative Writing. I have extensive experience in helping workshop creative pieces of many different mediums, such as personal memoirs, stageplays, short stories, and screenplays. I also have extensive experience in academic writing, particularly English literary analysis. In my free time, I love to work on whatever creative writing project is rattling around in my mind at the moment, and also be involved in KU Theatre. Hello everyone! My name is Aadi, and I’m a PhD student in the Curriculum & Instruction program in the School of Education. I have a master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and am well versed in the field of English Teaching. I have taught English in Nepal and Thailand as an ESL instructor and got the opportunity to teach a Freshman Composition I workshop and lectures at Arkansas Tech University as well. I specialize in writing, and I’m excited to be your Graduate Writing Consultant and help you with different essays, personal statements, research articles and anything related to writing. Fun fact about me, I have lived in 8+ countries and have native proficiency in English and a plethora of experiences to share with you all. I love bodybuilding, watching TV shows, and eating international cuisines.

Hi! I’m a third-year PhD student in linguistics. My research focus is theoretical description, mostly on the syntax and phonology of lesser-documented languages (more specifically, Bantu and Tibeto-Burman). I enjoy reading across a wide range of disciplines and types of writing—research, technical, application materials, etcetera—so bring me anything! I also enjoy learning languages other than English; I speak conversational Standard Mandarin Chinese, and I’ve taken a few other languages, including Uyghur and Tibetan here at KU. In my free time, I watch lots of YouTube and search for free food.

Hello! I am a second-year PhD student in counseling psychology. I am interested in working with college students in assessment and clinical settings and researching the role of identity in military veteran's civilian experiences. I love to learn new things from the writing that comes through the wingspan! I enjoy having conversations about your topics and getting to know more about your thought processes and how you organize those on paper. Hello! My name is Mira, and I am a second-year graduate student studying East Asian art history at the KU Kress Foundation Department of Art History. I also received my bachelor’s in East Asian Languages and Cultures here at KU, so I have basic proficiency in Korean after studying for 5 years. In terms of writing, my strong suit is research papers and analysis papers. I can help with research for those needing Korean sources as well as helping with McCune-Reischauer romanization. A fun fact about me is I am a trained singer who performed at KU for over 2 years!

Hi! I’m Rocio and I am a first-year PhD student in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies department. My academic interests include language policy and multilingual education, but I also enjoy reading works in social sciences and humanities. I am an international student from Paraguay, so my first language is Spanish, and I also speak conversational Portuguese. In my free time, I like painting watercolors and trying new delicious food.

Hello! My name is Sara, and I’m a master’s student in KU’s Speech-Language Pathology intercampus program. I received my bachelor’s degree in SPLH and Spanish, along with certificates in Linguistic Studies and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from the University of Northern Iowa. Spanish is my second language (professional working proficiency) and American Sign Language (intermediate proficiency) is my third! I specialize in the research process, from brainstorming to final drafts, and I love citations, especially APA and MLA styles. Hi everyone! I am a second-year PhD student studying Counseling Psychology. I have a background in studio arts and psychology, with interests in Chinese culture, philosophy, and art history. Within writing, I specialize in graduate school application materials (e.g., CVs, personal/professional statements), research paper development/brainstorming, and answering writing prompts. I have language competency in Mandarin and Cantonese. English is my third language, so I can help with navigating writing in a new language.
