Hello, my name is Allyna (she/her) and I am a junior here at KU from Des Moines, Iowa. I am an international business and finance major on a pre-law track, so I specialize in personal statements, cover letters, resumes, and business writing; but I am not exclusive to just that. I can also help with brainstorming to start off your writing projects or to chat about ideas you may have regarding them! In my free time, I frequent boba shops in town and enjoy crocheting. I’m a third-year PhD student in Creative Writing, focusing on fiction. As a writing consultant, I especially like to work with people on creative writing, application materials, and humanities scholarship, but I’m always excited to help at any point along the writing process from brainstorming to revision. Before I got to KU, I attended the University of Oklahoma where I received my BA in English Writing with minors in Spanish and Classical Culture, and my MA in Rhetoric and Writing Studies with a concentration in Creative Writing. My scholarly interests include social fiction, mythological retellings, speculative fiction, Marxist theory, and writing center pedagogy. And—most importantly—I love my dog Percy!

Hello! I am a PhD candidate in history. My research examines the contributions Tanzanian women have made to urban centers post colonization. I speak Swahili as a second language. I enjoy working with students across disciplines on different kinds of writing projects. I always enjoy helping students with personal statements as I get to know them beyond academia. I also love exchanging ideas at the brainstorming stage and generally talking through ways to approach writing projects. Most of my down time is spent giving belly rubs to and doing positive reinforcement behavior training with my anxious-about-everything-in-the-world dog, Bart. I’m also an avid puzzler and have recently taken up cross stitching.

Hi There! I am a Ph.D. student in Musicology, but I hold Music Performance degrees in Flute and a minor in French Studies as well. I am a PhD candidate in the Geography department with a background in cultural studies. My area of research is medical humanities, specifically I am interested in exploring the intersection of the arts and medicine. In my free time I enjoy throwing on the pottery wheel. My strengths are in helping graduate students organize their ideas in larger papers, articles and dissertations. My background is in Linguistics and Russian, having earned an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University where I taught English as a Foreign Language for two years.
