In-Person Appointments

In-Person Appointments in Anschutz Library

All students benefit from invested peer educators who provide feedback, ask questions, serve as sounding boards, and offer motivation and encouragement throughout the learning process. The Wingspan provides appointments with trained peer tutors, consultants, and coaches who will coach and guide you as you work.

For writing consultations, you can make appointments for consultations at any stage of the writing process--when you haven't yet started writing, are trying to polish a final draft, or are somewhere in between. We ask that you make the suggested revisions before scheduling another appointment time. We do not offer line-by-line corrections. Consultants are educators, not editors.

Please review the policies below when making an in-person appointment:

  1. Please plan to arrive for your appointment a few minutes early.
  2. Bring both a copy of your assignment or essay and directions in either print or digital format.
  3. If you are ill, do not come into the Wingspan. We can reschedule the appointment for an online option if desired.

Policies to Know

Late Arrivals

You must arrive on time for your appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, your appointment will be treated as a no-show, and we will not be able to conduct the appointment.

Cancellation Policy

Some students think they must take completed assignments or papers to their Wingspan appointments. Here's the good news: we work with students (and assignments) at any stage of completion or incompletion. Even if you're "not ready" to see a tutor or consultant, we recommend you keep your appointment. You'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish! However, if you must cancel your appointment, please give us notice.

If you need to cancel your appointment:

  • Log into the Jayhawk GPS (Navigate) website at jayhawkgps.ku.edu or the phone app. Go to the website or app and log in with your KU single sign-on.
  • Go to the Appointments tab and click on the appointment you want to cancel.
  • At the bottom right of the appointment details, click “Cancel Appointment.”
  • Choose one of the reasons from the dropdown menu, and click “Cancel Appointment.”
  • Once you have canceled your appointment, you may sign up for a new one.

Policy:

  • Please cancel your appointment at least 1 hour in advance. If you have not cancelled your appointment within this time frame, it will be considered a missed appointment.
  • If you miss more than three scheduled appointments, you will no longer be able to make appointments. In order for your access to be reset, you must email the Wingspan to talk with a program manager.

If you have any questions about changing or canceling an appointment, call the Wingspan at 785-864-7733 or email learning@ku.edu or writing@ku.edu.
