Graduate Write-In Overview
Write-ins provide a large block of time during which to focus, relax and get some writing done. Whether you are preparing for your comprehensive exams, writing your dissertation or dissertation prospectus, editing a paper for publication, writing a book review or fellowship application, we invite you to join us. Attendees often appreciate the opportunity to write in a community setting and the energy and helpfulness of staff from the KU Writing Center and KU Libraries.
Who should attend?
All KU graduate students are invited to spend the day writing with us!
What to expect
Our goal is to offer a pleasant space, ample time, and light snacks and coffee to fuel your work in the Watson Library Graduate Student Study Lounge (4th Floor)! We offer an environment without distractions, one that will allow you (should you wish) to connect with other graduate students who are committed to their academic and professional writing. Staff from the KU Writing Center are also available to answer drop-in writing questions!
A Typical Write-In Day
You can arrive anytime between 10am and 4pm to join us for writing time! Each week we will also have special Lunch and Learn sessions or KU Library Workshops. For a full schedule of events, check out the Library's Page.
Student Hours
Graduate Support Staff from across the university are available each week between 11am-3pm to answer your grad school questions. These Staff members support students in writing, research, teaching, professional development and more. Much like office hours, stop by and ask them anything!
